Star man who blew our minds
Born in 1939, he was educated at the University
of Ceylon, achieving a first-class honours degree in mathematics. He
won a Commonwealth scholarship to study at Trinity College,
Cambridge, and followed in the footsteps of his astronomer father,
an inspirational scholar whose books the young Wickramasinghe had
devoured.
