Feng-shui North that brings the pot of gold...

Today, our Feng-shui master Asiri Wanigaratne is advocating us on how to improve our luck in our profession.

North is the direction for the Job or occupation. Water is the element for this direction. So if you have a bathroom in your place on this side of the direction, it is quite tolerable.

But keep that bathroom clean without any leakage of water. And if you can keep a green plant with round leaves in the bathroom, and light a blue colour bulb in it for more than ten hours.

If your office-table (either at your office, business place or at home) is under a main beam of the roof, you tend to face a lot of stress. So, it's better to check and draw your desk away from the beam.

Ponds and fish tanks are the oldest symbols known to be improving the occupations/ income of the residents living in a house. It is said not merely in the Feng-shui, but also in the old Sri Lankan 'Vaastu Vidya'. You can build a permanent pond, or keep a small clay pot with clean water (beware of the mosquito breeding as well) on the North in your compound. A fish tank can be kept inside the house on the North.

But remember to feed the fish sufficiently while keeping the water cage clean always, or otherwise if the fish feel miserable, you won't get any luck! And if you do not want to rear fish at home, the best thing is to keep the tank filled with water and a tube of oxygen as the water should get jiggled with a slow motion effect. When you have fish in it their movements make the water wavy. Even if you have a small mural waterfall inside your house do not let the water rotate fast as the slow moving water brings more good.

At least even hang a picture of water (not a waterfall that falls downwards, but a slow moving river like thing) on the North wall of your place.

But remember not to keep water in the bedrooms if they are on the North. Metal element also says to be good for the North direction. Although the number of the tubes in a wind chime is essential in Feng-shui, for the North it is immaterial. So hang a wind chime and enjoy the sweet melody of it.

Also, when placing your table and chair at your office or business place, a door or a window should not be behind you. According to Feng-shui this might let others start a secret cue against you. If there's a wall behind you it would be the best thing. In ancient times, the rich Chinese used to have tortoises in the ponds on the North direction. Now as it is prohibited to have tortoises, one can have a metal tortoise in a plate of water and place it on this side. But, if you are going for this symbol always remember to select the right metal ornaments, as sometimes, you can get a tortoise made of ceramic and applied metal colour on it. Ceramic is not good for the North.

The three Feng-shui coins are also a lucky symbol for the job when placing them in your purse and drawers. You can also paste them on your telephone receiver, cashier book and the business table to draw more income. Other than the above stated Fook symbol, fish statues and pictures of fish also bring improvement in your occupation.
