What's the secrecy about cash awards?

RUGBY AWARDS: What is all this secrecy? First, neither the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) nor Caltex Lubricants were willing to divulge the names of the individual award winners at the annual Caltex-Sunday Observer Rugby Awards held last Wednesday at the Taj Samudra Hotel. The winners were announced only at the awards presentation.

Then, cash presentations were made to these winners. When asked about the amount that each individual and club received, they (the SLRFU and Caltex) were reluctant to disclose the amount. Why? In years gone by the cash award winners' names were disclosed.

Next comes the question about the Charles Wijewardene Memorial Trophy for the Most Outstanding Player of the Caltex Clifford Club Knock-Out Championships. Last year (2005), it was awarded to Dilantha Wijesekera. Why was this trophy not awarded this year?
