Security measures in place for festive season
With the new laws introduced on Monday, the
security forces and the police would take every possible action to
make Colombo city a safer place for the people to move freely ahead
of the festive season, Defence authorities told the Sunday Observer

Foodstuff direct to Jaffna from Chennai on President's directive
On a special directive issued by President
Mahinda Rajapaksa the Government has made arrangements to import
10,000 metric tonnes of essential foodstuff from Chennai directly to
Point Pedro and Kankesanturai to overcome the food shortage in the
Jaffna peninsula, Minister Douglas Devananda told the "Sunday
