OSC win SAISA title

FOOTBALL: Overseas school of Colombo Junior Varsity beat the Varsity team from American International School of Dhaka 1-0 to emerge champions of the South Asia Inter-International School Association (SAISA) Girl's Football tournament held recently in Colombo.

There were eight teams from four countries who completed for honours with two teams from the Overseas School of Colombo. They were the American Embassy School from New Delhi, American School of Bombay, American International School from Chennai, Karachi American School, International School from Islamabad, Lahore American School, Lincoln School from Kathmandu and American International School from Dhaka.

Twenty-seven games were played on the OSC grounds as well as at Baddagana in only three days with the assistant head of OSC, Oli Tooher-Hancock, welcoming the players and thanking Manilal Fernando and Muhiseen Ariff of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) for their contributions towards the success of the tournament. The awards ceremony was held in the auditorium of the OSC with the head of OSC, Mr. Laurie McLellan, distributing the awards, which included the SAISA All-Star Player award.
