Flashback of maestro Premasiri Khemadasa’s life on his 70th birthday

Born in Talpitiya, Vadduwa maestro Premasiri Khemadasa says he himself is surprised at the feats he has achieved as a musician. “No one in Vadduwa has even heard the word “opera”, he muses. Hailed by critics like Sita de Saram as “a daring revolutionary, a man far ahead of his time”, the maestro will celebrate his 70th birthday on January 25, 2007 and hopes to stage his new opera - Agni at the beginning of February.
