Mowjood, Rajasooriya foil Joes

CRICKET - Royal defied the Josephian attack to force a draw in their school cricket match played at Darley Road yesterday.

Royal struggling at 88 for 5 in reply to Joes formidable 315 for 7 declared were dismissed for 155 with Ravisha de Silva top scoring with a fine 68 with 10 fours. Paceman Treshan Rajasooriya bowled best for Joes with 5 for 37.

Royalists following on with a deficit of 160 runs were rescued from a certain defeat with spirited batting from Haroon Mowjood stroking a 65 with 10 fours and a six and Banuka Rajapakse a steady 72 with 7 fours 4 sixes and sharing a 120 runs stand for the 3rd wicket.

St. Joseph's: 315 for 7 decl.

Royal: 155 (K. de Silva 68, T. Rajasooriya 5 for 37, Anton Livera 2 for 26, Nirmal Rajapakse 2 for 9) and 238 for 6 (K. de Silva 29, H. Mowjood 65, B. Rajapakse 72, Charith Fernando 20 n.o., R. Weerasinghe 2 for 30).
