Fine all-round display by Titus Perera

CRICKET: President's College Rajagiriya's Titus Perera produced a fine allround display in their drawn cricket encounter against Zahira College at Maradana yesterday.

Titus Perera struck a flamboyant 98 with twelve fours and one six and captured 7 for 40 including a hatrick, but Zahira fought their way to a honourable draw from the brink of defeat through their middle order batting.

In reply to President's College 171 Zahira were 142 for 5 overnight in their first innings, but were all out for 152 losing their last five wickets for 10 runs. Titus Perera took 4 wickets in an inspired spell of bowling with a hatrick. President's College going in for the second time declared their innings at 253 for 6 with Titus Perera top scoring with 98.

Zahira needing 273 runs to win were 5 for 21 at one stage,but were rescued by three good innings by M.Reezan (56), M.Sheik 38, and M.Wasin 52 n.o.

President's College Rajagiriya 171 (S. Upuldeniya 20, Titus Perera 21, S.Silva 25, A.Kariyawasam 62, I.Ghouse 5 for 62, M.Fawaz 3 for 12,) and 253 for 6 declared. (D.Tharanga 32, Titus Perera 98, C.Silva 38, A.Kariyawasam 26, S.Silva 31, I.Ghouse 4 for 57).
