For the very first time of Sri Lanka, six students of Roots
Hair and Beauty Academy obtained the NVQ level iv certification.
The awards ceremony was held recently at the BMICH .The chief guests
were Prime Minister, Ratnasiri Wickramanayake and Piyasena Gamage,
Minister of Vocational and Technical Training
The Academy offers a flexible curriculum with courses ranging from
one year, six months to three months and NVQ(National Vocational
Qualifications). There are short term courses for working women.
Seminars are conducted and hands on creative experiences is also
provided. Workshops and demonstrations are additional bonuses. It is an
approved centre for City and Guilds.
In addition, the academy has been given recognition for Migration and
employment in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia by Lakmal Welabada
'Miss' and 'Mr' would be the greeting terms of theirs. No matter whether
the client has got off from a luxurious Limousine and with an attractive
attire or has come in packed public transport with crushed clothes the
same treatment will be given to all of them.
A client who steps into 'Roots' would never turn away from them.
Equal treatment with care and attention rooted with compassion is the
success of 'Roots' hair and beauty salon and academy.
'Roots'
treats the root of the skin just as the roots of a tree looks after the
whole tree that gives shade to a nation. 'Roots', a government
registered academy with world recognition would enhance more job
opportunities for our girls who are enthusiastic in beauty business.
Shyamani Priyanthi, the pillar and owner of 'Roots' knows how to make
her clients satisfied with her magic touch of beauty treatment, and then
to make her students confident to face the exams of the National
Vocational Qualification (NVQ) conducted by the Vocational and Tertiary
Educational Commission.
"For the first time in Sri Lanka we are having a professional
qualification (from this institution) which is recognised all over the
world. So, those who get this certificate can work anywhere in the
world. All my six students who faced the exam this time got the highest
level results. I'm really proud of them," says Priyanthi.
Apart
from NVQ, 'Roots' Academy train its students for the City and Guilds
exams for hair dressing too. "We have full courses and crash courses to
match the requirement of the student.
And everybody who comes for the course would get an unlimited
training with a practical and theoretical knowledge. Every student who
undergoes training with us get a recognition certificate which is also
valid to work abroad," explains Priyanthi.
'Roots' was a dream Priyanthi had when she practised her little hands
on her dolls' hair when she was little, and then giving a hair cut to
her sister. Her inborn talent later flourished to the business of beauty
culture and
running of an academy, after arming herself with foreign exposure and
getting through a number of high examinations available in the field.
Clients who come to her salon at Ridgeway Place, Bambalapitiya are
from different segments of society whose requirement would also vary
from a Manicure, pedicure, relaxing head massages, face care to bridal
dressing.
"We take care of any beauty and hair care requirement. No matter what
their age is," smiles Priyanthi who has the experience in the field for
more than 20 years. |
