Polo with the gentle giants
The world heritage Dutch Fort of Galle provided
the unique and picturesque backdrop to the annual polo tournament
held from 14th to 17th February. This is the 6th time an Elephant
Polo festival was held in Sri Lanka. The first was held in Weligama.

In the context of defining
women's role :
The first step that Sri Lankan women should take
before stepping into the new millennium as liberated women is to
stretch the artificial limitations that have been imposed upon them
by the society. These practices are often taken for granted and if
challenged, such attempts were nipped in the bud citing them as
un-cultural or alien to Sri Lankan culture.

Get lost in Massai Mara
Dr. Dissanayake, who believes that some of the
animals in the African forests lived in Sri Lanka many years ago
says "The fossil records show that the lion, two species of
rhinoceros and even a hippo lived here in the Pleistocene era".
