LIFT Fashion Show 2007
Collections by the Diploma and Advanced Diploma students of the Lanka
Institute of Fashion Technology displayed at the LIFT Fashion Show 2007
were statements of individual concepts and creativity that were
creditable.
Working on the theme 'Vision of colour through style' the casual,
office and evening wear outfits projected the imagination of the young
designer, the outfits in pleasing hues and colours.
Into the depths of our souls 'Burgundy' intended to be dramatic by
the designer Najila Ablej as the opening item succeeded in doing so. The
dress and two pants outfits make you take a second closer look.
'Colours through an African Eye from Nayana Ratnawardana was a
display of rich colours sending the message that 'Africa taught the
world how beautiful clothes can be spiritually and socially.' This
section was a display by Najila, Shermila and Nayana.
The other section 'Fashion history for the future' by the young
designers Tagara, Madavi, Rehana, Samah, Erangi and Nadeesha revealed
the extent of their creativity for a commercial or a non commercial
world.
The collection by the Advanced Diploma Students in Rainforests in the
Ocean, I love Kashyappa, The Ocean Kings and Belly Dancers were
interesting and portrayed the hard work that had gone into the making of
the creations.
In closing mention must be made of 'Little Fairy Frills and Dreams'
by Nayana - a kid's collection displayed by a group of enthusiastic
bunch of girls and boys who received a warm appreciative round of
applause. They very nearly stole the show. |
