Govt. secures 9,000 jobs for Lankans in Korea

The government has secured 9,000 job opportunities for Sri Lankans in Korea, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare, Upali Dahanayake told the Sunday Observer.

He said the job opportunities were available in the construction, agriculture and industrial sectors.

He said, already around 40,000 applications have been received and many of them are being processed to interview the prospective applicants for these jobs.

Those selected, would be given a three-month training which include the Korean language. Selected applicants should be in a position to communicate with Korean employers and the language courses are conducted to help them.

He added, Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama during his visit in Korea would explain to the Korean authorities of the Sri Lankan potential.
