The local advertising fraternity joined in the celebrations with Leo
Burnett Solutions Inc (LBSI) as the eight-year old company struck TV
Gold at the Chillies 2007, by winning the highly coveted Gold award in
the TV Campaign category for its insightful five second TV campaign.
This is LBSI's second consecutive big win in the TV category since
the debut of the Chillies last year. The awards ceremony, also known as
the Sri Lanka Advertising Awards, is held annually to celebrate and
reward the finest in advertising created locally.
The work that earned this prestigious award was the Good Knight TV
commercials popularly titled "Slaps", an innovative piece of advertising
that has also been highly commended by the Leo Burnett Worldwide
network.
This recognition from the Chillies 2007 TV jury - comprising local
and international judges is proof that this groundbreaking TV commercial
has taken Sri Lanka's advertising to a new standard on par with the
world.
The man behind the idea, LBSI Creative Director Subhash Pinnapola,
said that this recognition was truly rewarding, "The idea was great, and
we had great fun creating it, however the crafting of it, took lots of
time and effort.
This recognition from an international jury is an immense honour for
my team and me. More importantly, it is also a big win for our client,
Good Knight, who was willing to divert from established practices, and
venture into new territories for this piece."
LBSI Executive Creative Director Trevor Kennedy, said, "I'm
incredibly proud of this achievement. Subhash and his creative team,
along with the others involved in the crafting of such a fantastic piece
of advertising, worked so hard to craft these commercials to their
finest possible state.
The idea was great and the execution was brilliant. It's fantastic
that the industry has commended us for this campaign, which has already
been well received by the global leadership of Leo Burnett."
Every Burnetter stood proud as their agency, one of the youngest
agencies in Sri Lanka today, went on to win 26 metals, including one
Gold, seven Silver, and 18 Bronze awards, in the Print, Radio, TV and
Integrated categories.
Managing Director of LBSI, Ranil de Silva said, "Today the night was
Leo's in every possible way.
To walk away with this collection of awards proves that Leo Burnett
is indeed a powerful force in the advertising field.
My heartiest congratulations and heartfelt thanks go out to each and
every person responsible for this brilliant windfall for us. This year
is Leo's eighth year of operation in the country, and we will continue
to break the mould, and endeavour to always remain fresh and memorable
in our creative work at every step along the way." |
