New Bills soon to protect indigenous medicinal resources
Around 50 Bills will be presented in Parliament
this year to protect indigenous ayurvedic medicinal resources from
being exploited for commercial use locally and abroad, said Minister
of Indigenous Medicine Tissa Karaliyadde addressing the launch of
the 'Ayurveda 2007' National Indigenous Healthcare Exhibition in
Colombo.

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri
Lanka will implement index or indices based derivatives shortly.
Director General SEC Channa De Silva said that it will be a cash
based settlement system.

New fertiliser to increase farmers' profits
Farmers using new fertiliser can increase their
yield thus increasing their profits. Managing Director of Opex Agro
Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, Onex Subasinghe told the Opex Agro Dealer
Convention in Colombo last week that farmers scattered across the
country will be able to reap a bumper crop harvest with the
introduction of new fertiliser that will boost production.
