by L.S.A. Wedaarachchi
A range of homecare brushes was introduced by Harris Ceylon Limited,
the market leader of painting and emulsion brushes in Sri Lanka. They
are toilet brushes, corner brushes, scrub brushes and car brushes.
The Head of Operations of Harris Distributors (Pvt) Ltd., Rajeev John
said according to survey conducted by the company there was a scarcity
of long lasting- high quality homecare brushes in the island. Having an
unblemished history of forty years of Harris paint brushes, the company
decided to produce and market a range of homecare brushes, he said. "We
maintain high quality standards for our products. Although the prices
are slightly high, Harris paint brushes are the first choice of
painters, he said.
"The Harris market share of the Sri Lankan paint brush market is 73
per cent. Ninety-three persons out of one hundred talk about Harris
brushes when they discuss paint brushes. That shows the popularity of
Harris products due to their high quality during the last four decades,
he said.
Under the first stage the company will market homecare brushes in
selected towns and later they expect to sell them islandwide.
The main purpose of the toilet brush is that it extracts stains and
dirt which accumulates in commodes and squatting pans. The corner brush
cleans the kitchen utensils and it has been designed in a manner that it
could reach corners of kitchen utensils without any hassle. Scrub
brushes are being designed to clean stains on surfaces and clothes.
Harris Ceylon was set up in 1969 to manufacture the world renowned
Harris range of painting and emulsion brushes. At present in addition to
the Classic range of brushed the Company produces a limited range of
Taskmaster brushes with a plastic handle and budget range brushes.
