A three-storeyed brothel that operated under the guise of a guest
house in close proximity to a girls' school at Mount Lavinia was raided
by the Police Central Anti Vice Striking Force (CAVSF) after a search
warrant was obtained from Mount Lavinia Magistrate last week.
A policeman who posed off as a businessman visited the guest house.
The manager had demanded Rs. 3,000 and after almost a one hour wait had
procured two women in the age groups of 20-35.
Later the Manager along with the two women from Ratnapura and Gampaha
were taken in for questioning. The women had told the police they earn
up to Rs. 75,000 a month. Although Rs. 3,000 was charged from a client
they were paid only Rs. 750-1,000 and the rest were deducted for meals.
To retain their services and to prevent them from escaping the women
were paide at the end on the month, Inspector Duminda Balasuriya the OIC,
Central Anti Vice Striking Force said.
Inspector Balasuriya said the third floor of the building was
reserved for patronage of foreigners and the ground floor was reserved
for local couples. The guest house was patronised by mostly young
couples, he said.
