Beadon Cup Triangular
Golf: A Caddies Triangular Championship between the Royal Colombo
Golf Club (RCGC), Nuwara-Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) and Victoria Golf and
Country Club (VGCC) through the courtesy of a group of Sri Lankan
golfers living in California, USA headed by Chiran Chandrasena are all
set to play each other at Digana and Nuwara-Eliya this month.
The 16 golfing Caddies from the RCGC travel to Digana on July 9 for a
practice round and take on their opposite numbers from the VGCC on July
10 and 11 on a Ryder Cup format.
The winners then travel to Nuwara-Eliya for a practice round on July
12 and battle each other for the Beadon Cup on July 13 and 14 with all
players being paid Rs. 1000 per playing day apart from being provided by
three T shirts, a track bottom, three pairs of socks and a cap.
Also, their expenses which includes food, accommodation travel from
Colombo to Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya will be met by the sponsors and the
Sri Lanka Golf Union (SLGU).
It has been the Caddies of the calibre of Nandasena Perera, Anura
Rohana and Lalith Perera to name a few (not forgetting Tissa Chandradasa)
who have brought honour and glory to their country and this sort of
tournament will further popularise the sport among the other Caddies in
the country and this particular tournament will be worked off annually.
