Death of Paul Perera

Former Minister and President's Counsel E. P. Paul Perera passed away at a private Nursing Home yesterday (August 11) after a brief illness.

He was born in Negombo on 29.06.1929 and had his education at Mari stella College, Negombo. He obtained a BA Honours degree in History from the University of Colombo.

Late Mr. Perera entered the Parliament in July 1983 representing Kaduwela and was appointed as District Minister of Polonnaruwa for one year in October 1983. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice in 1988 and thereafter served as Minister of Justice.

He contested successfully in 1989 representing the Attanagalla electorate. He served as Cabinet Minister of Science and Technology from 1989 and as Minister of Lands from 1993.

Funeral will be at Borella cemetery on Wednesday, August 15 in the afternoon.
