Kandy annihilate Old Zahirians

RUGBY: Kandy Sports Club made a crushing return to Clifford
Cup rugby tournament when they annihited the old Zahirians Sports Club
by 84 points (7 goals, 7 tries) to 7 (1 goal) to enter the Semi Finals
of the Caltex Clifford Cup knock out rugby tournament in the quarter
final played at Nittawela yesterday. At half time Kandy SC led 46-0.
Rain before and during the match made ground condition wet and
slippery but this did not prevent Kanfy Sports Club running with the
ball. Kandy SC have already annexed the Caltex League title and they
will meet Havelocks in the Semi Finals to be played at Nittawela on
Tuesday (August 14).
Kandy scored their tries through flanker Dilip Selvam (1), full back
Nalaka Weerakoddy (1), No. 8 Imran Bishamin (1). Winger Sanjeewa
Jayasinghe (1), Scrum half Krishantha Rajapakse (2), Winger Erande
Weerakoddy (3), Flanker Kapila Silva (1), Winger Sameera Silva (2),
Flanker Arvinda Udangamuwa (1) and Centre Prasad Chathurange (1) Winger
Erande Weerakoddy goalled 6 six tries while full back Nalaka Weerakoddy
added the extra points to one try.
For old Zahirian lock forward Kamil Hadjie scored and fly half Rizwan
Mannan added the extra points.
