Ranga looking for employment

CRICKET: Holy Cross skipper Ranga Cooray was full of praise and thanks to his coaches who moulded him to a top cricketer. Cooray won the Observer-Bata Schoolboy Cricketer of the year Outstation.

Besides winning the main award, he also won two more awards - Best Batsman and Best Allrounder Outstation.

Ranga performed creditably well in the school cricket season, scoring 1,064 runs including a double century and two centuries and he also captured 54 wickets.

He said that he believes that parents and coaches should guide the youngsters to reach the top in sport and also in public life.

Ranga said that school cricket is fast developing in the country and the outstation schools are fast closing the gap on the Colombo schools. But what worries ranga a great deal is the fact that he does not have a job and he comes from a humble home and finds it difficult to make ends meet. Right now, what Ranga needs is a job - any offers?

He hopes to continue playing cricket and at the moment he is playing for Saracens Sports Club in the Premier League.
