Public told - Be extra vigilant

Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara has appealed to the public to be alert and extra vigilant to prevent terrorist activities in Colombo and the country at large.

"Terror attacks could be staged in any form and at any moment. Therefore the alertness of every person is vital to prevent the destruction by terrorists," Brig. Nanayakkara said.

Brig. Nanayakkara told the 'Sunday Observer' that the public should be extra vigilant about suspicious articles. Law-abiding citizens in the country should give their fullest support to the police and the Armed Forces in carrying out search operations to prevent terrorism.

Investigations are being conducted on the explosions at Minister Douglas Devananda's office and at Nugegoda on Wednesday. Security around the island has been intensified following the explosions in Colombo," the Brig said.
