Science Fiction:
Soar
***
Summary
The inhabitants of the over populated comet
Icera, has finally found a world they may be able to call home. But
there is a war already raging in this world called Soar and the Icerans
can't be sure how friendly the flying inhabitants of Soar would be.
Centrino, the first alien the Icerans
encounter, pays his respects to the silver sphere sent by the Icerans,
for saving his life, by taking the sphere to the Base of Soar, where all
the prisoners of war are kept. And it turns out that all the prisoners
are humans, great ancestors of the Icerans.

On the Bridge, the Commander turned to his other officers. "We have
to help our ancestors." said Garner, the chief navigation officer.
"No...." said the Commander quite too firmly.
"They maybe our ancestors, but as I said before, we don't know whom
we should help." "But Commander they are humans." said Garner. "Yes but
Centrinos kind may well be the victims." Knowing none of these
conflicts, Centrino was puzzled about the silence.

"Tell me Icerans, what do you make of our little base. I know that
it's no match for your technology, but it's good enough to keep the
humans out of the way." The Commander didn't want to raise any
suspicions by remaining silent for long. "It's quite an establishment."
So far Centrino hadn't ventured to ask much about their kind; if
there is anyone controlling the sphere and who they are. But there was
no way that Centrinos kind could sense that the Icerans were indeed
humans like their enemies. One major reason for this would be the
advanced technology that the Icerans possessed.
Isolated from the rest of the human kind millenias ago, the Fotans,
the ancestors of Icerans, developed their own individual technology.
when the Empire failed, Earth its' mother nation crumbled. The remaining
humans scattered all over the universe. Among them only few peace loving
nations could retain the former prosperity of the human empire.
"Yes it is." said Centrino, forcing the Commander out of his
thoughts. "What do you do to your prisoners?" asked the Commander. "Well
follow me and I shall show you." the sphere followed Centrino to the
bottom of the crater, where the prisoners as well as the inhabitants of
Soar looked on at the sphere puzzled. Lines upon lines of
chained-together-prisoners were put to various tasks. Some of them were
crushing stones, some making pots with clay, some making clothes,
etc.....
"This is what we do to them." said Centrino pointing at the prisoners
at work. "This is way too kind of us considering what they did to our
kind." "But you must realize that they don't have much of a choice."
blurted out the Commander, as Centrino watched on perplexed. ".....I
mean they are as helpless as we are.
Their planets are over crowded, as ours is." "At least you had the
dignity to ask for help." said Centrino reproachfully. 'The greatest
folly of humans 'pride'.' said the Commander turning to his companions
at the Bridge.
"They killed us in thousands and they tortured the rest, until they
couldn't bare the pain inflicted upon them." "Sorry Centrino I have no
right to judge you." Centrino paused uncomfortably. "You have to
understand that we didn't have a choice." "Yes I understand Centrino. No
hard feelings?" inquired the Commander.
"No hard feelings....Let me show you the rest of the facility, but
first I have to report to my superiors. Wait here for me." With that
Centrino shot in to the sky and disappeared over the rim of the crater.
The Commander turned to his companions in the Bridge of Icera.
"What do you make of it." "No one broke the silence." There was no
way the inhabitants of Soar would accept the Icerans if they revealed
their identity. The Icerans had only one alternative.
The last time Centrino saw the sphere was when it disappeared through
the clouds of Soar in to outer space.
