Body-Building Nationals Dec 29 at BMICH
BODY BUILDING: The 53rd National Championships conducted by the
Interim Committee of the Sri Lanka Body-Building and Fitness Federation
(SLBBFF) will be staged at the BMICH Committee Room 'B'(Western End) on
December 29 at 5.30 p.m.
Addressing a media briefing at the Sugathadasa Stadium Hotel on
Thursday evening, the President of the SLBBFF's Interim Committee,
Jeffrey Schucroft, said that the semi-finals will be worked off on
December 22 from 9 a.m. at the Central YMCA, Fort and that over 100
entries have been received. He thanked Life Health and Fitness (Pvt.)
Limited for their generous sponsorship package and its Managing
Director, Reshi Fernandopulle.
The eight events to be staged are - Fly (upto 60 Kg), Bantam (upto 65
Kg), Light (upto 70 Kg), Welter (upto 75 Kg), Light Middle (upto 80 Kg),
Middle (upto 85 Kg), Light Heavy (upto 90 Kg) and Heavy (over 90 Kg).
The Junior Championship will see only the events. They are Bantam (upto
65 Kg) and Light (upto 70 Kg).
Schucroft also said that three Masters will participate in this
championship together with the Seniors. A former Mr. Sri Lanka (1977,
1978 and 1979), Pathmasiri Perera (62) will compete in the Light Heavy
Weight class, while the other two are W. A. J. Jayalath from Otter AC
who is 45 years in the Middle Weight class and T. R. Marjan (45) in the
Fly Weight class.
