Rotary builds school in Hambantota
President Mahinda Rajapaksa Rotary friendly model junior school built
by the Rotary - Colombo Down Town was opened recently by Minister of
Irrigation, Ports and Aviation Chamal Rajapaksa.
The school is constructed at the “Tzu-Chi Foundation Complex” at
Siribopura, Hambantota.
The school has 12 classrooms to accommodate 40 students in each
class, a music room, dancing room, library, principal’s office, staff
room, general office and other facilities for the children and the
staff.
President of the Rotary Down Town, Rtn Capt. Suranjan De Silva, said
that the project was funded by the international partner, Rotary Club of
Billericay of Essex, in UK Rotary District 1240. It provided relief to
the students affected by the tsunami and assisted the Hambantota
district tsunami Disaster Relief and Development Program.
This is the 22nd school project funded by the Rotary District 3220,
Sri Lanka. |
