Antonians take major honours

St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota upset all predictions and came out with honours in their 92nd Kandy’s “Battle of the Blues” against Trinity College which ended in a draw at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy yesterday.

Heavy Rain curtailed play on both days but the Antonians were able to gain a first innings win through two good efforts by their players.First Medium pacer Fahan Leonard captured 4 for 24 to restrict Trinity College to 142 in their first innings. This brought him the Best Bowler award.

When the Antonians balled it was their vice captain Sahan Pallihakkara who held the batting together with a top score of 73 which 6 fours and 1 six off 98 deliveries. He was involved in a sixth wicket start of 69 with Rasun Ekanayake who 28.

Earlier the Antonian opener put on 69 for the first wicket. These two partnerships helped the Antonian to overhaul their opponents total.
