Gurukula and Sri Dharmaloka in search of a win

CRICKET: The 20th annual big cricket encounter between Sri Dharmaloka and Gurukula will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama on March 19 and 20.

The match is sponsored by Lions Club of Kelaniya in Collaboration with the Junior Old Boys Association.

All big cricket encounters in the series have ended without a definite results, but in the one-day encounters, Sri Dharmaloka are in front with 9 wins to Gurukula’s 7. The traditional one-day match will be played at the same venue on March 23 and this match is sponsored by Modern Air Company, Wedamulla, Kelaniya.

Both Gurukula and Sri Dharmaloka are equally balanced and another draw is the likely result to the two-day game.

Sri Dharmaloka will be led by 5th year coloursman Kasun Chaminda a left-hand batsman who has scored 300 runs. The vice-captain will be Sarath Gayan - a fourth year coloursman who has been in fine form, scoring 850 runs including two centuries and four half-centuries.

He is also the opening bowler of the team and has captured 25 wickets for the season. There is also Dhanushka Priyanuwan who is playing in his fourth year and besides his wicket-keeping, he has done well with the bat, scoring a century and has totalled around 500 runs.

Among the bowlers, there is Rashmika Maduranga who is a fourth year coloursman and has a total of 50 wickets. Besides him, there is another 4th year coloursman in Rushan Gayantha who has captured 25 wickets. Then there is another dependable batsman in Iranga Krishan a fourth year coloursman who has scored 750 runs inclusive of five half centuries.

Gurukula College, Kelaniya will be captained by 5th year coloursman Radima Madhuwatha who has scored around 400 runs in Lemonade Trophy matches. The vice-captain will be Sahitha Mahanama who has scored around 450 runs inclusive of four half centuries.
