Sri Lanka wins 23 gold medals

Athletics: Thailand won the championship at the Thai Open Masters Athletic Meet held in Bangkok recently. There were eighteen countries including India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Brunai, Thailand and Singapore that participated in the meet. Sri Lanka emerged runners-up, having clinched a total of 59 medals of which 23 were gold medals.

D.K.I.P. Somasiri of the Lake House Sports Club won a gold medal having set a new record in over 35, 400 metre race.

A.J. Weerasuriya, who represented 'Suriwale' Institute excelled in the 5 kilometre run having established a new record.

H.M. Ramyalatha won the medal for the best programmer.
