Aesop's fables: Musician turned butcher
Retold by Panchamee Hewavissenti
A stranded kid was roaming in the thicket searching for its herd.
A wolf, seeing the kid alone, seized it. The helpless kid turned to
wolf and pleaded to fulfil it last will. "Please wolf, let me make my
final request before you devoure me".
The wolf roared. "Fine, let me know what it is soon."
Then the kid uttered, "could you please let me die according to our
custom."

"What's your custom?" the wolf raised its tone with a note of haste.
"O, wolf, according to our custom," before we become prey, we should
dance. So could you play the flute so that I may dance for a while
before I die."
When the wolf started playing the flute and kid started dancing, a
team of dogs came on hearing the noise and chased away the wolf. And the
kid survived without being a prey due to its savoir faire. While
fleeing, the wolf thought to itself, "why did I want to be a musician
whereas I am a butcher. I learnt a good lesson, so that I, hereafter
would not do anything which I am not supposed to do."
Moral of the story
When someone gives priority to insignificant things and procrastinate
which is important would have to face such detrimental situations, like
the wolf put off to devour the kid and did play the flute the
insignificant and not required task.
