UNP to hold 1,000 polls meetings in North Central and Sabaragamuwa

The UNP will hold nearly 1,000 pocket meetings and ten main rallies in the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces during the next few weeks. This was decided at the party's Working Committee meeting presided by party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, in Colombo last week.

UNP will alliance with the Western People's Front (WPF), The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and the SLFP (M) to contest at the two Provincial Council elections.

UNP, media spokesman Gayantha Karunathilaka told the Sunday Observer that in addition to political meetings, a house to house campaign will also be launched.

"Our objective is to educate people about the party's view on the current security situation in the country, the development activities and also the party's job orientation programs.
