Manmohan will move a one-line confidence motion on July 21

In accordance with parliamentary procedure and practice, the Prime Minister will move on July 21a one-line motion seeking the confidence of the House in the Council of Ministers. With possible minor variations, the motion will read: “This House expresses its confidence in the Council of Ministers.”

The Lok Sabha secretariat made it clear on Tuesday that the motion to be moved under Rule 184 would not make a specific reference to any issue. It would be up to the members of different parties to raise any issue during the debate preceding the vote on July 22.

Official sources said the withdrawal of support by the Left parties was on the nuclear issue and the support extended to the United Progressive Alliance by the Samajwadi Party was also on the same issue.
