President assures safety of Wanni displaced civilians
By Our political correspondent
President Mahinda Rajapaksa reiterated to Tamil United Liberation
Front leader V. Anadasangaree that everything was in place to ensure the
safety of the displaced civilians in Wanni once they enter the cleared
areas.
The TULF leader Anandasangaree met President Rajapaksa at Temple
Trees on Friday and discussed the current situation in Wanni and the
political developments in South India.
Informed sources said that the President briefed the TULF Chief in
detail on the measures that were in place to ensure the safety of the
civilians currently displaced in the districts of Killinochchi and
Mullaithivu.
President told Anandasangaree that the LTTE has blocked those
innocent civilians from entering the cleared areas to create a wrong
picture to blame the Government for their heinous acts.
However the Government has made all arrangements to provide food and
medication for the civilians from the districts of Killinochchi and
Mullaithivu.
The TULF leader told the President that he has written a letter to
the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu M. Karunanithi stating the true
situation in Wanni and on the adverse propaganda carried out by the LTTE
against the Government. |
