CMC anti-dengue program kicks off

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) launched a campaign to eradicate dengue in the CMC area. Garbage in the Mutuwal and Mattakkuliya areas were cleaned under the first step of the CMC program launched on February 7.

The campaign was organised to control the spread of dengue in the area. The program was launched on the advice of the Special Commissioner H. Sumanapala, Municipal Commissioner Badrani Jayawardana and under the supervision of heads of departments in the CMC. According to CMC sources the number of dengue cases is on the rise. Around 160 positive cases were reported from the city of which 30 were from the Mutwal area. Two persons had died after being inflicted with the diseases.

Members of the CMC, Sarvodaya Movement, People's Bank and the Public participated in the program.
