Army chief visits Wanni

Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka visited the Wanni Army headquarters yesterday and held discussions with his brigade commanders over the safety and welfare of the internally displaced persons.

Wanni Security Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Jagath Dias along with other senior commanders in the region were present.

Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka directed his men to take utmost precautionary measures to safeguard civilians who manage to escape from the battlefront, sources said.

Army Chief also inquired about the welfare measures for his men in the areas which was brought under control of the Security Forces, sources said.
