Donald Steel Golf Tourney Feb. 21

GOLF: Eleventh version of Donald Steel Trophy International Golf Championship organised by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort will be worked off at the picturesque Victoria Golf Course at Rajawella off Kandy on Saturday, February 21st with the first tee off at 7 a.m.

Donald Steel Trophy was first golf competition to be worked off at Victoria when the course was opened 11 years ago.

Since then, the course has come in for a lot of praise for its scenic beauty and the challenges it has to offer to the golfers. While it had won the award as the best golf course in the Subcontinent, it has also staged a number of International Golf Competitions.

Former Test cricketer Sidath Wettimuny is the defending champion of the Donald Steel trophy. But he will receive still competition from local golfers like Bandula Weerasinghe, Ian Tait, Sujeewa Lankatilaka and also from foreign golfers.

Besides this competition, the events which will be worked are: Eberts Pot and for Ladies, Pam Fernando Trophy and the Victoria Bowl.

The prize distribution will take place at the Club House.
