Quiz contest at Kelaniya University
From a humble beginning as a unit under the Department of Commerce
and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies,
the Department of Marketing Management (DMM) was established in 1998 and
later upgraded as a separate department in 2005 in the University of
Kelaniya. With marketing management as a discipline ever evolving and
organisations requiring professionals with updated futuristic
qualifications, DMM has realised the need of positioning itself as a
dynamic innovative and market oriented academic body and has taken the
responsibility of producing quality graduates to meet these challenges.
The DMM has taken a number of initiatives, for example from first
year onwards having soft skills development course modules, making the
students acquire a 100-day compulsory practical training in order to
obtain their degree, comprehensive dissertation and simulation game at
final year, to mention a few.
The University of Kelaniya proudly declared its flourishing fiftieth
anniversary in year 2009 and organised a gentle series of programs.
Arming the continuous positive intellectual growth of the Sri Lankan
youth community, the faculties and departments of the University of
Kelaniya are organising a three day exhibition starting on May 28, 2009
by exhibiting different academic and professional streams for Sri
Lankans including schoolchildren, youth and the professionals.
The prime objective of the entire program is to disseminate the
knowledge to the nation with the correct attitudes.DMM is proud to join
as a part of this event with various activities. One among these is to
organise a Quiz Competition among the Sri Lankan top rated schools
including national and international schools targeting to build up the
knowledge and the exposure as per the modern global, technological,
social and economical principles. The Department has already invited 75
plus schools and the competition will be held on May 26 at the
University of Kelaniya. In achieving the objectives of the compulsory
course unit of "Entrepreneurial Skills for Marketers", a group of
competent students in the final year, is co-ordinating the above
competition as a part of the simulation game with the blessings of the
Department of Marketing Management.
The organising committee invites all the interested schools in Sri
Lanka to register for this event.
