Situated amidst a charming and calm environment abound with fauna and flora, the historic Batadomba Cave stands majestically still hiding many secrets of the Balangoda Apeman.

This place of historical importance is situated about four kilo metres off Kuruwita town along Colombo-Ratnapura Main Road. The route to Batadomba Lena stretches from Kuruwita-Ekneligoda Road via Guruluwana and Sapugastenna.

It seems tat the authorities have totally neglected the maintenance of this abode of `Balangoda Manawaya' whose fossilized remains of the skeleton were subjected to carbon analysis in California, USA some time ago.

The study revealed that the skeleton was 28,000 years old.

Lack of road facilities, sign boards improper cleaning of the Lena and the surrounding area snake menace, bats and rats as well as termite invasion have discouraged the arrival of visitors to this place.

The surrounding area and the summit of the main rock where the Lena is situated filled with the chirp of different migratory birds, jungle squirrels, monkeys, iguanas, pigs etc. Some wild flowers and butterflies can also be seen there.
