Adopt-A-Stray on May 31

Scores of bundles of canine joy will seek new homes and loving families on Sunday, May 31st at the first `Take Me Home' Adoption Day organised by `Embark,' the personal CSR initiative of ODEL founder and CEO Otara Gunewardene. Dog lovers interested in taking home healthy, vaccinated, wormed and groomed homeless puppies have been invited to visit a demarcated area near the entrance at ODEL's Alexandra Place store on that day, to make their pick.Two special marquees and a dog pen will be set up for the Adoption Day on May 31st and puppies aged 3 to 12 months will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis between 3.00 p.m. and 6 p.m.


Diploma-award ceremony

Ninety five students who have undergone a nine-month training course in food and beverages operations will be awarded diplomas at a function to be held at Queen's Hotel, Kandy, on Wednesday May 27 from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

The function is organised by the Super International School of Hotel & Tourism Management based in Mandandagala, Matale.

The training courses for the youth were being organised through the funding of the Distance Education Unit (DEMP) of the Ministry of Higher Education.


Fishing Village at Galle Face Hotel

The Sea Spray Restaurant of the Galle Face Hotel will create a gastronomical landmark by presenting the "Fishing Village". Live entertainment, for every table of eight guests a complimentary bottle of red or white wine and many more surprises are on the cards during the `Fishing Village' festival from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., from May 21-31 at the Galle Face Hotel. Lake House SLFP office bearers

At the recent election held to elect the new office bearers of the Lake House S.L.F.P. Union, the following were voted to office.

 Felicitation ceremony

The Mutwal Community Police Committee's people's felicitation ceremony 2008 is scheduled to be on held May 23 at 4 p.m. at Hindu Cultural Centre Hall at Kovila Road, Mutwal.

The ceremony is held under the patronage of Senior DiG Nimal Mediwaka and DIG In-Charge Colombo Division.

All persons who helped to provide security and maintain law and order will be felicitated at this ceremony.
