CTB, private bus, railway transport zone in Pettah

A transport zone in Fort concentrated on all outstation trips from one central take off location is envisaged shortly by Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma. According to the Minister's proposal a transport zone that would encompass the Fort Railway Station, Pettah Central Bus Station and the private bus stand at Bastian Mawatha, Fort would bring to commuters' a more upto-date transport service.

Under the scheme, while the bus stop at Bastian Mawatha located in the Railway Department land will be brought under the administration of the National Transport Commission - all long distance buses from Colombo will take off from this Central Stand.
