Back home after a successful tour of the States, Rajitha and Misty,
the acclaimed band, packed their bags and jetted across to Melbourne on
May 12 to be featured at a special concert on May 22 at the Drum
Theatre, Dandenong.
The concert also featured Derrick J who in his ballad and Rock ‘N
Roll style of his own has endeared many a Sri Lankan fan Down Under,
Lozaine Paul and Ryle Moldrich - Sri Lankan musicians making a name for
themselves in Melbourne. We spoke with Rajitha before the band left.
“This show at Drum Theatre is going to be interesting. Because it
will be produced by Bathiya ‘N Santhush. You ask me how the tour of the
States was. It was great, we didn’t expect the response we got.
It looks like Sri Lankan bands who have less work at home are getting
booked for gigs abroad. We are also booked for a dance on May 23 in
Melbourne which will be held at Springvale Town Hall”. voices Rajitha
Rupasinghe in that deep toned expressive voice of his.
It’s been a hard, but fruitful journey for the band Misty - they’ve
had their ups and downs, but as we see it now they are back in the high
life and enjoying their halcyon days. |
