Sale of flags to help soldiers and families

A ceremony was held at the Head Office of Lankaputhra Development
Bank on the 12th of this month under the patronage of Minister of
Finance and State Revenue, Ranjith Siyambalapitya to commemorate the war
heroes by generating funds through the sale of flags for the welfare of
soldiers and their families.
May 7 to June 7 has been declared to commemorate the valiant soldiers
who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country. Several programs
aimed at the welfare of these soldiers have been launched during this
period. A flag day for soldiers will be held parallel to this event.
Carrying forward this program, Lankaputhra Development Bank has made
arrangements to sell the Soldiers' Commemoration Day Flags at all
branches of the Bank.
Speaking at the launch of the Flag Day, Minister of Finance and State
Revenue, Siyambalapitiya said that the Government has launched a host of
programs for the welfare of soldiers. He said that the aim of this
exercise was to make the soldiers financially independent and to obtain
the active participation of all Sri Lankans..
Chairman of Lankaputhra Development Bank, A. Sarath de Silva pledged
to extend the fullest cooperation towards programs aimed at the welfare
of Soldiers.
Director of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, Sriya Danansuriya as well as
customers of the Bank and officials representing the three armed forces
were present.
