It was the most colourful historic moment that kept the entire nation spellbound. While tears of happiness streamed down the Sri Lankan cheeks, President Mahinda Rajapaksa hoisted the National Flag heralding the message `Sri Lanka is now united under one flag’. “This is the Motherland of all of us and there cannot be any difference between us.
The war against the LTTE was not a war against the Tamils.
 

Our troops sacrificed their lives to save innocent Tamils from the clutches of the LTTE. We cannot forget the services rendered by them”, the President asserted. “I am the proudest Head of State in the world for being able to see a future generation such as you who love your country so much. I am the proud father of such a generation”.
