The romance, the comedy and the intrigue behind Roy de Silva’s 1990s
hit, “It’s a Matter of Time” will be revived with its sequel, `It’s a
Matter of Love’, which had begun shooting these days in locations in the
city.
`It’s a Matter of Love’ stars Anarkali and Saranga Dissasekara in the
lead with Lucky Dias and Vijaya Nandasiri in supporting roles. Rosy
Senanayake, who took up one of the leads opposite Kamal Addaraarachchi,
Sangeetha Weeraratne and Gamini Fonseka in `It’s a Matter of Time’, will
continue the part in the sequel.
Irangani Serasinghe, Ronnie Leitch, Coreen Almeida and Mahinda
Pathirage take up significant roles while the movie introduces talented
actors Nehara Peiris, Keshiya Amanda, Menaka Maduwanthie, Sudharshana
Bandara and Gloria Hewspatha to cinema.
The story is based on a series of incidents focusing on the themes of
youth romance and trustworthiness.
Malan is the only son of Dhanawardana, a wealthy businessman who
harbours the dream of seeing his son taking over the reins of his
business empire.
Therefore he decides to send his son to America for further studies
and training. However, he has yet to learn that his son is engaged in a
serious relationship with Natasha, a 17 year old lass, the daughter of
Rossie.
Twice widowed Rossie is unaware that Malan refuses to leave the
country due to his commitment towards Natasha. Dharmawardana is furious
after discovering facts about the lovers and threatens to send away
Malan by force.
Meanwhile, the idea of a marriage at such a young age does not appeal
to Natasha. More drama unfolds as clashes between parents and lovers
take center stage. As signs of the dust settling down finally comes in
view Natasha is gripped with a sudden suspicion. She suspects that there
is a love affair between her best friend Chathuri and Malan.
“It’s a `Matter of Love’ is my second English movie as `It’s a Matter
of Time’ was the first. I wanted to shoot a sequel to the first movie
some time back but was unable to find an actress for the main role”.
Anarkali is quite suited to the character and speaks fluent English,”
Director Roy expressed at the sets of his newest production.
He also said that a number of flashback scenes taken from `It’s a
Matter of Time’ will be included in his latest project.
“It is unfortunate that Gamini is not alive to portray, the character
he portrayed in `It’s a Matter of Time’. However the tale is woven in a
manner so that his contribution to the previous movie is constantly kept
alive with the audience,” he added.
Roy’s comedy movie, `Sir, Last Chance’ is drawing in crowds at
theatres while his movie based on legendary vocalist H. R. Jothipala’s
life story, is ready for release. However Roy stated that it is `It’s a
Matter of Love’ which will follow `Sir, Last Chance’ to the wide screen.
“We hope to release the movie in May or June at Savoy, Wellawatte and
EAP circuit cinemas islandwide. My next challenge will be to shoot an
English comedy,” he revealed.
