Govt to woo Lankan investors with incentives

The Government has decided to call Sri Lankan Diaspora to return to the land of the birth and invest.Trade and Commerce Minister Bandula Gunawardane said that special concessions and tax waivers would be offered to these investors.

"With the war ending foreigners are heavily investing in the stock market and we have decided to offer incentives to woo Sri Lankans resident abroad", he said.The Board of Investment and the Central Bank will jointly announce a special package in this regard.

The Government in a bid to narrow the regional disparity has also introduced a similar scheme to entrepreneurs a few years ago, who were investing outside the Western Province. This had proved to be a success.
