Kingswood bounce back to win 44-12

Defending schools league champions Kingswood College after their last
week's loss bounced back to reckoning with an emphatic 44 points (3
goals, 4 tries, 1 drop goal) to 12 (1 goal, 1 try) win over St. Peter's
College in their schools under 20 `A' Division rugby tournament match
played at the Bogambara stadium in Kandy yesterday. At half time
Kingswood led 15-12.
After a closely contested first half in which after trailing behind
0-15 at one stage the Peterites hit back to close the gap to 12-15 at
lemons.
But after the turnaround the Kingswoodians ran amok to add 29 more
points while conceding none.
Kingswoodians opened scoring in the 11th minute through a try by full
back Rajitha Sansoni which was goalled by skipper Roshan Weeraratne.
In the 25th minute stand off Roshan Weeraratna scored by the right
corner flag and this went unconverted. But a couple of minutes later
Roshan Weeraratne executed a 30 metre drop goal for the Kingswoodians to
lead 15-0.
In the 31st minute the Peterites lit back book when fly half Banu
Nanayakkara went over mid right and full back Dilshan Paul added the
extra points.
Just before half time No 8 Keith Gurusinghe barged over for a try
which went unconverted.
But the second half turned out to be a one sided contest with the
Kingswoodians running riot.
Kingswood's full back Rajitha Sansoni who had a fine game scored two
more tries and one of them being a 70 metre effort after intercepting a
pass and ended up scoring under the post.
Prop Mohamed Sabry too chyipped in with two tries and scrum half
Mohamed Afsal Scored the last try on the stroke of the time. Two of
these tries were goalled by full back Rajitha Sansoni bringing his tally
to 21 points in the match.
