SLASU to hold trial on June 19 and 20 for World C’ships
SWIMMING: The Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) will hold
mandatory selection trial on June 19 and 20 at Sugathadasa Stadium
Aquatic Facility to select prospective swimmers to represent Sri Lanka
at the Rome `09-Fina World Championships.
Akhry Ameer, Swimming Director, SLASU said that only swimmers who
have obtained the minimum entry times specified may be considered for
participation at this mandatory selection trial. The respective entry
times should have been achieved at any meet held from 1st October 2007
to date in Sri Lanka.
Swimmers may enter any number of events that they wish to qualify. It
is recommended that only swimmers who are of a high standard and have
the potential to qualify should submit their entries. Entries close
today with SLASU, 7A, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7.
Rankings or times achieved at this event will not guarantee
selection. The final decision on selection will be made by the National
Selection Committee, National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of
sports based on factors such as budgets, entry quota, etc.
Events to be worked off are 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m free
style, 50m, 100m, 200m back stroke, 50m, 100m, 200m breast stroke, 50m,
100m,200m, butterfly stoke, 200m and 400m individual medley. L.F. |
