Matale Thomians win 54-12

St. Thomas' College, Matale scored their third successive win for the
season when they beat Welagedera Maha Vidyalaya by 54 points (7 goals, 1
try) to 10 (2 tries) in their schools under-20 Segment `C' Rugby
Tournament match played at St. Anne's College ground, Kurunegala.
At half-time Thomian led 33-5. Mahes Gunaratne refereed.
Star Lanka wins

CRICKET: Roshan Ekanayake struck a superb unbeaten 70 to guide Star
Lanka Shipping to a six wicket win over Techno Medics in a Mercantile
`G' Division match played at Ananda College ground, Ananda Mawatha
yesterday.
Techno Medics: 186 for 8 wickets (Sheran Perera 53, Rasitha Tharanga
29, Lahiru Thiwanka 28, Muthu Ranga 17, Saranga Lakruwan 15, Chamara
Nuwan 14, Gayan Mendis 2 for 34, Dilruk Lawrence 2 for 35).
Star Lanka Shipping: 189 for 4 wickets (Roshan Ekanayake 70 n.o,
Lawrian Moses 38, Dilruk Ruwan 28, Saranga Lakruwan 2 for 30).
Thomians in runaway win
S. Thomas' trounced Mahanama by 98 points (9 goals, 7 tries) to 7 (1
goal) in a lop sided schools under 20 rugby match played at Mount
Lavinia yesterday. The winners led 43-0 at the breather.
The newly promoted Mahanama into schools 'A' division rugby could not
really match the power play of the Thomians who scored at will.
For the Thomians T. Wickremasisnghe (3), S. Muthuthanthri (3),
W.Wilwara (2), N.Kodituwakku (1), R.Gunasekera (3), M.R.Rila (1),
Kapuwatte(2) and Janik Gunasekera (1) were the try scorers. Arjuna
Manoharan gave them the extra points. M.H.Dissanayake scored the
solitary try for Mahanama and M.Kumaranayake converted.

STC class of '90 Softball Cricket Sixes July 11
SOFTBALL CRICKET: Old boy class groups from S. Thomas' College, Mt.
Lavinia, Guruthalawa, Bandarawela and Preparatory School Colpetty will
once again compete in what has now become the annual `Thomian
Inter/Collegiate Batch (softball) Cricket Sixes' organised by the STC
Class of '90 following their tremendous success last year to be worked
off on 11th July at S. Thomas' College, Mt. lavinia (`Big Club') grounds
commencing at 8.30 a.m. This year's proceeds too will be utilized to
complete the 2nd stage of the pavilion and tuck-shop buildings
renovation project. The event is rapidly gathering momentum within
social circles and promises to be yet another `Thora Festival'.
There is already a tremendous response from not just the Thomian
fraternity but also from outside. Those interested are urged to confirm

For those not actually taking the field but rolling up to enjoy the
atmosphere on the 11th July at Mt. Lavinia holds plenty of exciting
things to do, with lots of fun and entertainment for the whole family,
trade and other stalls, games of skill, antique cars, foot rubs,
bouncers, pony rides, live DJ and papra bands, pom pom girls and the
whole works!
Colours Awards

The annual colours award ceremony of Vidyartha College, Kandy will be
held at the Kandyan Arts Centre, Lake Round, Kandy tomorrow 12 noon
onwards.
Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake will be the
Chief Guest.
Isipatana victorious
RUGBY: Isipatana College maintained their impressive record this
season as they defeated St. Joseph’s College by 22 points to 3 points in
their inter school under 20 league rugby tournament match played at
Longden Place yesterday.
The winners collected their points from one goal and three tries
after having led 12-3 at half time. St. Joseph’s College managed to put
over a solitary penalty.
Sailors down Airmen 22-3
Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club produced a splendid performance to beat
Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club by 22 points to 3 points in their SLRFU
Caltex inter club `A’ division league rugby tournament first round
fixture worked off at Welisara yesterday. The winners led 22-3 at half
