An ode to my beloved motherland
My country that lived under terror for nearly 30 years finally has
seen freedom which brought me joyful tears.
I pay tribute to all the heroes alive and deceased, without them this
victory could not have been achieved.
Let’s not forget the sound leadership, both political and in war; the
sacrificial decisions made has proven success.
Next I earnestly pray for those who lost their loved ones; may they
find new strength to live in this land which is free from fighting.
Some older generations may still have prejudice over caste and race;
may we all put those dogmas aside and stand as one nationality in its
place.
Citizen brothers and sisters let us join hands in unity; and rebuild
this beautiful country towards success and prosperity.
May the whole world witness in awe as we grow, and God watch over us
from above; for we are ONE NATION, ONE VOICE AND ONE FAMILY, we strongly
stand and shall walk in love.

To our heroes, Our nation’s destiny
“The losses our great nation encountered all these years, have
pledged the eternal survival and peace among men.
Our heroes sacrificed their precious lives to protect the sovereignty
of our country and to make a better place for the yet unborn
generation.Someday they will see and hear the nation’s great sacrifices
and the imprints on our motherland.
I thank all our heroes our nation’s men for their love for this
country. As they say nation’s like men have their own destinies, as our
nation created one of its own.
Dilantha,
a citizen of this great nation. |
