Virgin Holidays, UK's largest long haul tour operator contemplates
launching flights of Virgin Atlantic to Sri Lanka that will help promote
tourism and strengthen trade ties between the two countries.
Managing Director, Virgin Holidays UK, Amanda Wills met officials of
the Tourism Ministry recently to discuss matters in this regard and
ensure the feasibility to commence flights. Virgin Holidays operates as
a transatlantic tour operator and offers holidays to USA, Canada, the
Caribbean, the Far East, South Africa, the Middle East, Mauritius, New
Zealand and Australia.The company was founded in 1985 and is based in
Crawley, UK. "The visit of Wills will have a tremendous impact on
tourism development and bilateral relations.
The benefits of the visit will not be confined to CodeGen but will be
passed on to the industry" Subasinghe said. Tourism industry experts
said that plans to launch flights by one of the world's largest tour
operators will help restore the image of the country as a tourism
destination which had been severely hampered by the war.
