Minister Yapa to open PPP workshop

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Governance and Institutional Development Division (GIDD), Commonwealth Secretariat is organizing a 4 day awareness workshop on Public-Private Partnerships from August 13 to 18 2009.

It will be held at the Mt. Lavinia Hotel and will be inaugurated by Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion. The purpose of the workshop is building public sector and private sector capacity in implementing public-private partnerships (PPP) in the development of infrastructure and other service projects.

The workshop will cover a wide range of topics relating to PPP including what is PPP, what types of projects and why, what other countries are doing, Policy Framework, Risk Management, Legal and Contractual Issues, Project Finance and other related areas. GIDD's mandate covers public sector administration, civil society and private sector institutions with public responsibilities, GIDDs have experience in helping countries develop their capacity in public-private partnerships (PPPs).
