Rhino Roofing Products Ltd., recently donated air mattresses to the
National Hospital in Colombo. These air mattresses for the orthopaedic
section of the hospital would greatly benefit the many security
personnel and other patients suffering from long-term orthopaedic
ailments.
Due to the shortage of air mattresses earlier, many patients suffered
from bedsores. However, this can now be prevented by letting them sleep
on these mattresses. Rhino Roofing will thus help alleviate the
unnecessary suffering of patients and reduce the expenditure incurred by
the hospital in treating bedsores.
The Managing Director of Rhino Roofing, Jayaseelan Gnanam took
immediate action to supply the air mattresses after the Director of the
National Hospital Dr. Hector Weerasinghe and the orthopaedic surgeon Dr.
Pinto informed him about this requirement through the former Deputy High
Commissioner to Australia, Michael De Silva, who maintains a good
relationship with Rhino Roofing and Gnanam.
During the presentation, Gnanam said that as a socially responsible
organization, it is their duty to understand and resolve problems in the
best manner possible. He pointed out that Rhino has lent a helping hand
even on previous occasions such as national disasters. The company is
currently involved in a project to complete the operation theatre
complex of the National Cancer Hospital at a total cost of over Rs. 25
million. |
